Deep Sea Sport Fishing

One can explore areas in the island that have great potential to be hot fishing spots with an abundance of Game Fish for the keen angler.  Species of Marlin, Sail Fish, Wahoo, King, Baramundi, Spanish Mackerel, Grat Trevallie, Bonito, Queen Fish, Barracuda, Grouper and Tuna found in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean make this island an ideal location for Sea angling.  Fishing craft using either a 30’ 6” sailing Yacht or a 30’ Pro-Cabin Deep Sea Fishing Boat are among the many Sport Fishing Boats available.   Day time accommodation for 04 to 05 adults are available in Vessels with Cabin, Marine Toilets, running water and Galleys for light cooking, Canopy, Fighting Chair, Trolling Rods and Baits.  The Boats are also equipped with safety Jackets, VHS Marine Radio, Mobile telephone and Fish Finders.  The Vessels are skippered by Sri Lankans with many years of experience in local and foreign boating and Yachting and safety equipment in accordance with international safety requirements and regulations are available in the Vessels.  The Season for Fishing in the Western and Southern Coast is from November to mid May while the best period to fish in the Eastern and South Eastern Coast is from May to September.  We can therefore programme year round Fishing Itineraries in Sri Lanka.

Travel Destinations of Deep Sea Sport Fishing

  • Bentota, is a well known tourist attraction in Sri Lanka, situated on the southern tip of the Galle District of the Southern Province, approximately 7 - 8 km (4.3 – 5.0 mi) south of Beruwala on the A2 highway.
  • Beruwala, located 60 km South of Colombo on the main west coast road (Galle road), together with Bentota Bay Beach Resort further south is the gateway to some secluded beaches extending all the way to Hikkaduwa Bay Beach.
  • Hikkaduwa is a tourist haven situated 16 km away from Galle. This town is very picturesquely situated on the lovely South Coast and is one of the Island’s best Beach Resorts.
  • Jaffna is the nucleus of the Northern Peninsula situated 398 km away from Colombo.
  • Mirissa is famous among tourists for its lovely sandy beach with relaxed and picturesque environment. It is a secluded bay lying about 5 kms from Weilgama.
  • Negombo is situated 39 km north of Colombo and 3 km off the Bandaranayake International Airport Katunayake.
